GRS eases people's life solving problem hastily in Rajshahi

He had uploaded his complaint in the GRS national portal elaborating the fact related to his grievance on January 24 last and within a few minutes he received a response message with a tracking number in his mobile phone.
Subsequently, RCC Chief Executive Officer had convened a meeting of the concerned committee in order to dissolve the issue thoughtfully on the following day.In the meeting, a decision related to promotion of 17 RCC staff, including Abhijit Kumar Sarker, to their next post was taken unanimously bringing a sigh of relief to them along with their family members.
Like Abhijit, the GRS has been benefitting many other people as they are taking shelter of the tool to get them free from their mental and financial suffering for the last couple of years.
Most of the public offices and other line departments have kept GRS apps along with four other good-governance tools in their respective web portals so that the public in general and the service recipients as a whole can derive total benefits of those legitimately.
Abhijit got the remedy of his complaint within 15 working days as per the committee decision.Expressing his gratitude to the government for introduction of the GRS, he viewed that when the people will know about the benefits of the tool the number of complaints will be enhanced to a greater extent undoubtedly.
Ahmed Sukorna, a resident of Khamargram village in Chowhali Upazila of Sirajganj district, had taken the issue of bringing a educational institution under MPO list to drew attention of concerned authority.
He had submitted his complaint to the Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education Rajshahi (BISER) using GRS on February 15 last mentioning that the MPO process of Betil High School and College in the Chowhali Upazila is on the final stage. But, the MPO listed Khamargram Degree College is located within 200 yards.
In response on March 29 last, the board authority assured him sincerely of addressing the issue.Abdullah Al Ruman, a second year intermediate student of Bogura Government Shah Sultan College, said the GRS tool has saved him from paying extra fees demanded by his college authority for his transfer certificate.
Humayun Kabir, Grievance Redress Officer and Secretary of BISER, told BSS that they have brought 15 GRS cases under disposal in March last in addition to the previous 60 others successfully and the redress process of the new ones is continuing routinely.
He said they have a five-member committee to conduct the GRS activities properly and 44 officers and employees were imparted training to attain desired yield in this field.Parvez Raihan, Deputy Director of Regional Public Administration Training Centre, said 83 officials and staff were imparted training to increase their understanding on GRS.
In addition to making them aware about the importance of the tool, the participants were enabled to formulate GRS work plans in their respective workplaces."We have also provided training to the civil society members to teach citizens at the local level on how they can access to this tool and help ensure better service delivery in their community," he added.
Prof Shafiul Islam from the Department of Public Administration in Rajshahi University attributed that the role of GRS is very important in making administrations accountable to citizens, improving the quality of services and strengthening good governance.
At the government level, GRS is a governance related management process that helps ensure better public service for citizens.It allows citizens to lodge grievances through the GRS APP and it's an effective tool to address citizen complaints, taking a step forward towards achieving SDG 16.Prof Islam said utmost collaborative partnership between government and non-government organizations can be the best way of creating massive awareness on grievance redress facilities available in the region.
